Cleaning-mad mum reveals why you should ALWAYS hang your whites on the washing line

ONCE a load of washing is done, it's much easier, and quicker, to simply pop it all in the dryer and let it go to work.

But if you're lucky enough to have a yard and a clothes line, there is one very good reason you should be using it to dry your washing – in particular your whites.

While many people dry their clothes outside simply to save money on electricity usage, cleaning obsessed mum Mrs D said it actually helps makes your clothes cleaner too.

Sharing the hack on her Instagram page where she boasts over 40k followers, she revealed that not only is the sun a natural way to whiten your white laundry, but it can also disinfect your clothes too.

It does so by killing any bacteria that might not have been washed away during the washing cycle.

And the ultra violet rays of sunlight help to bleach and disinfect laundry which is particularly beneficial for white sheets and towels.

She also said that the sunlight will help to remove any stubborn stains that didn't come out in the wash and suggested "hanging it out to dry for a few hours and the stain will be completely gone."

Granted, this hack could only work on sunny days, but the tip has left many blown away.

"OMG my mind is blown. In all honesty, mine is the 'save money by not using the tumble dryer' option, but now I know about the disinfecting tip I'll be doing it much more," one person wrote.

While another praised the idea,  "That's amazing, I never knew any of that, thanks darling," she said.

The idea made some others feel warm and fuzzy and some what nostalgic.

"One of my favourite childhood memories is the smell of clothes dried on the line, especially on cold days," one person wrote.

Meanwhile, another wrote: "I love the smell of washing on the line ."
