I gave my fences a modern glow-up on the cheap – they look super posh and are still going strong two years on | The Sun

A DIY whizz has revealed how she gave her tired fence panels a major glow-up on the cheap – and they still look posh two years on.

Kate took to Instagram to share a step-by-step guide for those wanting to transform their gardens, suggesting her DIY fence panels were actually super easy to make.

Known online as @kateandherhome, the Lancashire-based content creator regularly shares interior design and home transformation tips with her 80,300 followers.

In a new reel, she said: “It's been 2 years since we turned our tired fence panels into modern cedar fences, so here's a quick how-to guide.

“Screw treated timber battens to each side of the existing fence panel. For wider fences, add another to the middle of the panel to prevent warping.

“Cut cedar slats to the desired length and fix to timber battens using stainless steel panel pins (these won't rust).

We didn’t want the same garden as our neighbours so gave it a makeover

I was bored of my generic bifold doors – so gave them an on-trend revamp for £8

“Align battens to the previous panel.

“We spaced the cedar slats 10mm apart and covered the joins with a vertical piece of cedar.

“The cedar battens were 44 x 15mm in size and came in 3m lengths.

“Stain with wood protective treatment to prevent weathering – we used @osmo_uk UV protection oil in clear 420 satin.
