Rugby star Jonny Wilkinson on his worst injuries and biggest regret – The Sun

FORMER rugby union star Jonny Wilkinson, who was awarded a CBE for services to rugby, reveals the worst pain he has ever experienced.

From his biggest regret to his all-time favourite film, Jonny, 40, opens up to Fabulous Magazine.

What scares you?

Nothing – except the health of my family.

What’s your favourite word?

Explore, because life is there to be explored.

Who would you invite to a dinner party?

I’d invite anyone spiritual who has a deeper connection to life.

What makes you laugh the most?

I like silly things, such as The Mighty Boosh – definitely more ridiculous humour!

I sometimes forget things, and that can cause mishaps, so my apology would be for the disturbances I’ve caused.

If you could travel back in time, where would you go?

I’d love to go back to a time that’s pre-man and see what life was actually like before we got here.

What’s your all-time favourite film?

It was Predator or Commando, but that met stiff competition from The Matrix. I’ve yet to add a more recent film to that list.

Do you have a party trick?

No, but I’d love it if I could just sit down at a piano and start playing!

What was your fave childhood TV show?

I loved The Young Ones.

What’s your earliest memory?

Being on the sideline of a junior rugby pitch when I was about three, passing a ball about with my dad Phil, while my brother Mark played rugby.

Who would you like to apologise to?

I sometimes forget things, and that can cause mishaps, so my apology would be for the disturbances I’ve caused.

What possession would you rescue from a burning building?

As long as my wife Shelley [Jenkins, 40] and child were OK, that’s all that matters.

What’s your biggest regret?

I don’t have any. I’ve always done my best, so what’s happened was meant to happen and I’m supposed to be where I am now.

What song would you like played at your funeral?

I grew up with my dad’s record collection from the ’60s and ’70s, so it would probably be something by The Beatles.

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever experienced?

My two main injuries were a fracture in my neck and dislocating my knee cap, but I’ve had myositis, a severe inflammation of the muscles, and that’s the worst pain ever.

Tea or coffee?

I’m a big fan of kombucha, which is a fermented green tea.

Who’s your celeb crush?

My crush will always be my wife.

What are your best and worst qualities?

I don’t consider anything [about me] to be good or bad – I just am.

What do you think happens when we die?

Is there such a thing as death? No one’s ever experienced death then come back and told us it’s real, so death is only a belief, whereas life is here for us right now.

How do you relax?

By fully engaging in whatever I’m doing.

What’s top of your bucket list?

Exploring how alive I can be.

What don’t you leave the house without?

My full attention. Wherever I am, I want all of me to be there.
