The best diet based on your star sign… and why carb-loving Capricorns might need to have a rethink

ANYONE who has ever tried dieting will know that there are hundreds of weight loss plans to choose from, but how do you know what’s right for you?

According to our resident Tarotscope reader Kerry King what you should be eating could be written in the stars.

Kerry has been practising tarot readings for the last 20 years, starting from reading for friends to amassing an international client list.

She says: “There aren’t many of us who naturally enjoy and relish the idea of dieting, it’s hard to stick to something based on denial.

“However, you can give yourself a better chance of success if you can align your dieting technique to your star sign.

“The personality traits and strengths associated with each sign can lead to a great match with a particular diet that won’t turn you ALL the way off. No pain, no gain… but let’s ease the pain. Read on.”

ARIES: Keto diet

This is low carbs and high fat (so you can still scoff which is important because you have a big engine and need fuel).

The primary aim of this diet is to make your body burn fat for energy, so you get lean and mean. Ruled by Mars, you are already mean… you just need to add the lean!

TAURUS: Mediterranean diet

This diet already sounds glamourous and delicious, so you’re halfway there already. It focuses on lots of vegetables, fish, nuts, wholegrains, oil and herbs. It feels like you’d be going on holiday, and eating at all the best spots. 

Food IS life to you, so if you have to diet, then you’re not going to make it a denial experience, it has to offer great meals still.

GEMINI: Fasting

The fasting approach works for you, Gemini, because you forget to eat half the time anyway!

Limiting your calorie intake to 500 calories two days a week, and then eating normally the other five days sounds easy and non-invasive. 

You CBA to remember lots of rules, and this strips away all of that. Just make sure you stick to your 500 on those two days, though, put them on your schedule.

CANCER: Blood type diet

This fairly new approach is science-led, and matches your blood type to a particular diet regime to work with your body, and achieve maximum results (please let it NOT limit carbs, you live for carbs).

You are not a fan of restraint, so you need something which justifies the effort and gives more bang for your buck. You need to see results fast, or you’re likely to give up.

LEO: Beverly Hill diet

Just the name alone has you hooked, it sounds super-rich, the kind of thing that ‘schlebs do. Well, this is tough one (some might call it a crash diet, so be careful). 

You basically eat fruit for six weeks, and then gradually reintroduce other foods. 

You don’t mind sacrificing pleasure for beauty, if the results are dramatic… and this diet is dramatic if nothing else.

VIRGO: Dukan diet

This one is quite fussy, but that’s OK because having something complicated to organise and schedule will occupy you and keep those hunger pangs at bay!

It has four phases, which you go through to kickstart the weight loss, before moving on to a maintenance stage.

You begin by adopting a high protein diet, supplemented with oat bran so you don’t get hungry.

LIBRA: Raw food

You don’t want anything fussy or complex, so the simplicity of a raw food diet appeals. Avoid any and all cooked or processed foods- that’s the only rule. 

Other than that, chop, grate, juice and blend to your heart’s content. You’ve always liked salads anyway. 

This diet promotes energy levels, so you’ll be feeling good too (and there’s less washing up- bonus).

SCORPIO: Atkins diet

Steak for breakfast? Yes please. 

This famous diet cuts out carbs but adds in pretty much unlimited amounts of protein and fat, helping your body to transfer those food groups to becoming the body’s energy source. 

You can have some pretty wild meat-based meals here, which you relish because you like to do things to the extreme and try something challenging.


You are probably the most outdoorsy, animalistic and wild sign so reverting to the diet consumed by our ancestors (from 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago) might be a seamless transition. 

It focuses on lean meats, fish, fruit and vegetables, the diet of a prehistoric hunter gatherer (your astrological is the archer, so it’s not far off).

This sounds cool.

CAPRICORN: Detox diet

Whatever you do, you do it “properly” and to the max, because your Saturn ruler gives you oodles of self-discipline and willpower. 

A full-on detox diet will make you feel like you’re really tackling this and purging yourself of the “bad stuff”. 

Most detox diets rely on raw vegetables, fruit, water and juices, so it’s likely to keep the bills down too (bonus).

AQUARIUS: Vegan diet

A vegan diet means you abstain from ALL products coming from an animal source (meat, dairy, honey too). 

It has ethical connotations, because you’re not only abstaining from animal slaughter but there are knock-on positive impacts for the environment too. 

You are the zodiac’s activist and have a big social conscience, so this ticks more than a diet box.

PISCES: Join a club

Pisceans are social creatures and thrive with the presence and encouragement of others. 

Joining a club (Weight Watchers, Slimming World etc) will provide you with the tools, motivation and importantly support to stick to whatever regime you choose. 

It’s not so much the diet that’s likely to trip you up, as the feeling of doing it all alone, so get in with like-minded dieters and help each other towards your goals.
