Adele has openly discussed the heartache behind her first album in six years, following her divorce from Simon Konecki. In her latest interview with Oprah Winfrey, the 33-year-old opened up about her divorce, life as a single mum and how the process inspired her new record.
Ahead of her latest album release, the singer had been very private about her life away from the spotlight.
Adele’s new ways haven’t gone down too well with Loose Women panellist Janet Street-Porter.
The journalist certainly didn’t mince her words when she branded the mother-of-one an “over-packaged, self-important musical Meghan Markle”.
The 74-year-old said that while she is a fan of Adele’s voice, she didn’t like “fake misery” and “the vacuousness of her bright shiny life in sunny California”.
Janet also claimed the singer was doing “anything to shift product”.
“Adele has earned a fortune from portraying herself as an unhappy misery,” she wrote in her Daily Mail column.
“Now she’s one of the most famous people in the world with a multi-million-pound fortune isn’t it time to button up, to let the songs speak for themselves, to spare us the back story, the intimate details about a failed marriage- especially when we are only hearing one side of the story?”
As well as this, the outspoken columnist admitted she isn’t a fan of the popstar’s dress sense.
She compared Adele’s appearance in her younger years to her current glow up and branded her recently worn triple leather outfit as “ludicrous” and “tacky”.
The Loose Women star’s “main beef” with the Easy On Me hitmaker however is “that the more she gushes, the less I love her”.
In Adele’s latest special for CBS, she performed a string of her hits at Griffith Observatory and was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey.
Janet compared the singer’s ways to the Duchess of Sussex and called her “an over-packaged, self-important musical” version of her.

The latter famously opened up to Oprah back in May with husband Prince Harry after stepping back from the Royal Family.
She penned: “Can you any longer tell the difference between Meghan Markle and Adele Adkins? Both had difficult relationships with their fathers and worship their mothers.
“Both felt that Oprah was the best person to share their ‘truths’ with.”
The journalist claimed that this was to offer the world a “shiny version” of they what wanted viewers to believe.
Despite Janet’s views, many fans have been expressing their excitement for Adele’s upcoming album on Twitter.
Langa Mavuso commented: “Adele’s album roll out has been so good. The covers. The interviews. The live music experience. They did it so right.”
Gazela wrote: “Yes, I’m excited for Adele’s next album, are you mad??? #Adele30.”
Anthony penned: “Adele has an album coming out in a few days and I’m not ready.”
Raven Marie added: “30 is going to be the number one album for a while. That’s it. That’s the tweet. #Adele.”
