Billie Eilish To Co-Host 2021 Met Gala

Billie Eilish is set to co-host the upcoming Met Gala, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” which is scheduled to open on September 18.

The exhibition will feature everything from the luxe ease of Halston’s ’70s glamour to Rodarte’s ethereal edge and Kerby Jean-Raymond’s powerful political vision for Pyer Moss.

Actor Timothée Chalamet, tennis star Naomi Osaka, and poet Amanda Gorman will be co-hosting the gala along with Eilish.

The annual fashion bonanza makes a return this year after being shelved last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eilish admitted in an interview that she’s never done “anything in this realm at all,” seemingly in reference to the “old-timey pin-up look” she rocked in the photos from the cover shoot she had for British Vogue.

“This year’s Met ball will be a smaller, more intimate celebration for the opening of the Costume Institute’s next exhibition, ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,'” read the announcement from Vogue about the dress code for this year’s event.

“Each of the Met’s four co-hosts embodies the defining factor of American style: individualism,” Vogue shared, adding that the group has “developed a distinct visual language for their public personas, one that is informed by the legacy of iconic fashion made in the USA.”

“Eilish’s willingness to embrace an aesthetic as innovative as her music has pushed emerging brands into the limelight and challenged old rules about how a pop star should dress,” noted Vogue about Eilish, who will be the youngest co-chair in the history of the event.
