Bow Wow Announces He Wants to Be a WWE Wrestler, and Pros Respond
Rapper Bow Wow — aka Shad Moss — has been in and out of the headlines fairly regularly since 2020. At times, he gets trolled on social media for flexing his material things or falling on stage. In other instances, he receives criticism for his antics or opinions.
Most recently, the rapper caught some heat for partying during COVID-19 — in a nightclub and also in a small boat. Still, Bow Wow has plenty of fans and he just let them know about a potential career change. He wants to become a professional wrestler, but not everyone sees his potential.
Bow Wow is currently on ‘Growing Up Hip Hop’
Make no mistake, Bow Wow was a rapper before he turned 10. A protégé of Snoop Dogg’s, he sold millions of records and toured the world in sold-out venues in his youth.
After outgrowing his child star image, he flipped to doing movies and a hosting gig for 106 & Park, but still dabbled in music.
But these days, the 33-year-old father of two is on reality television. For months, rumors swirled that Bow Wow would not return for the newest season of Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta. However, he popped in to stir things up with Angela Simmons — again.
This season, part of his storyline will center on creating one last album with songs about his ex-girlfriends.
Bow Wow declares wish to join WWE
In the early morning hours of Feb. 8, Bow Wow tweeted that after he delivers a final album, he wants to retire from music. He then wants to focus on film and TV and eventually segue into wrestling. The rapper even pitched an idea to tag team with Rey Mysterio against anyone in the organization.
He admitted that he needs to get into shape before making an attempt, but maybe it’s not that farfetched. Why? Reggaeton star Bad Bunny is currently training for a tag team match against the Miz for WrestleMania 37. This comes after he and Priest joined forces in a RAW match earlier in February.
With that in mind, a Bow Wow debut could be a real possibility. If the announcers can shout “Bad Bunny” over again, imagine how it would play out when they have to repeat Bow Wow’s name.
Wrestlers respond to Bow Wow
Bow Wow’s tweet attracted the attention of Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik who isn’t so ready to give up his partner. “Whoa whoa whoa that’s my tag partner!!” he tweeted.
Though the younger Mysterio and Bronson Reed support Bow Wow’s efforts, others are already challenging him. Ricochet and T-Bar chimed in to talk smack to the rapper and both want to see him in the ring.
Bow Wow hit back with an insult about T-Bar looking like Bane, and then a battle of words commenced. After calling Bow Wow “Air Bud,” T-Bar told him to come to the Thunderdome to prove himself.
WrestleMania 37 is on March 28, so there’s still time for the WWE to coordinate a surprise trash-talking session in the ring. Maybe Bow Wow’s fans will get to see him jump from the top rope.
