Brad Pitt Surprises a New Orleans–Based Essential Worker in the United We Sing CBS Special

Brad Pitt joined a slew of A-list celebrities Sunday for CBS’s virtual United We Sing special to thank essential workers for their service.

During the televised event, Hollywood stars such as Sandra Bullock, Oprah Winfrey, Jamie Foxx, and Pitt video-called respective essential workers across the country to chat, check in, and give thanks for the tireless work that has helped keep Americans safe amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. For his contribution, Pitt spoke with a New Orleans–based sanitation worker named Darnell Rudolph.

“Man, I love the work you’ve done after Katrina,” said Rudolph to Pitt during their exchange. Rudolph was referring to when Pitt helped commission architects to design and build more than 100 eco-friendly homes in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

“That’s so appreciated. I’ve got such a love for that city, and we so appreciate what you’re doing,” said Pitt ahead of asking Rudolph about his family.

Pitt’s chat with Rudolph isn’t the first virtual appearance we’ve seen from the actor since the start of the global health crisis. In addition to his cameo in the CBS special, Pitt also made an address during Missouri State University’s virtual graduation, as well as had a quick stint as a weatherman on John Krasinski’s Some Good News Internet show.
