Caroline Flack’s body ‘found by her dad’ after she took her own life ‘as friend popped to the shops’

Caroline Flack's body was found by her dad, Ian, according to a report on the presenter's death.

The 40 year old was found dead at her East London home on Saturday after she died by suicide.

It has now been reported that the former Love Island host took her own life while a worried friend who was staying with her "popped to the shops."

MailOnline claims that her producer friend, who has not been named, left Caroline alone at home as she went to the shops and became alarmed when she couldn't get back into the flat.

It is reported she then called Caroline's father, Ian, who gained entry to the property she had recently moved in to, and found the star's body.

Caroline's family confirmed her death in a short statement on Saturday evening, saying: "We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.

"We would ask that the press respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time."

A lawyer working for the Flack family later confirmed that Caroline had taken her own life.

Tributes quickly poured in for the star, with her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, saying he is in "so much pain."

He wrote to his 151,000 Instagram followers: "My heart is broken we had something so special.

"I am so lost for words I am in so much pain I miss you so much I know you felt safe with me you always said I don't think about anything else when I am with you and I was not allowed to be there this time I kept asking and asking.

"I will be your voice baby I promise I will ask all the questions you wanted and I will get all the answers nothing will bring you back but I will try make you proud everyday.

"I love you with all my heart," he said followed by a broken heart emoji.

Caroline's close friend and replacement as Love Island host, Laura Whitmore, also paid heartbreaking tribute to her on her BBC Radio 5 Live show.

She said through tears: "Yesterday we lost someone before their time. At age 40 Caroline Flack made the decision to take her own life, I now want to talk about it. I want to talk about her and give her the respect that she deserves and that she didn't always get.

"Anyone who knew Caroline, knew she was vivacious, loving and had a passion for life which is why none of this makes sense," she continued.
