As Black Lives Matter protests continued to spread across the nation following the tragic death of George Floyd, the “Goodies” hitmaker took to her social media account to express her hope that a change will soon come.
In an Instagram post dated Sunday, May 31, the 34-year-old singer shared a photo of her posing with her young boy. The two of them were smiling widely at the camera. “My sweet Baby Boy,” she wrote alongside the sweet picture. “I pray that when you get older A CHANGE will finally have come!! I’m going to keep my FAITH!”
“I’m praying that the losses of our Black Kings and Queens won’t be in vain,” the wife of NFL quarterback Russell Wilson continued as referring to similar instances of police brutality and racial injustice. “Enough is Enough! I’m praying for UNITY! I’m praying for the powers that be to unite and decide that it’s time for a change!”
Days earlier, Ciara voiced her heartbreak over the killing of George at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota. “My heart can’t take it, seeing what’s happened to #GeorgeFloyd. This is eerily similar to the death of #EricGarner,” she tweeted on Tuesday, May 26. “There has to be a stopping point in the process of arresting someone. It’s all senseless.”
Ciara expressed heartbreak over the tragic death of George Floyd.
The “Love Sex Magic” singer was one of the many celebrities using their voices to call for justice for the 46-year-old, who died after officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than seven minutes during an arrest.

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes, in the meantime, joined demonstrators on the street of Miami, Florida, and Jay-Z made a personal phone call to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
