If you’re looking for an example of a whirlwind romance, look no further than Kevin Kilbane and Brianne Delcourt. Since being partnered on Dancing On Ice in October 2019, the couple have fallen in love, got engaged and Irishman Kevin has relocated to Canada to be with Brianne.

But that’s not all, as OK! can exclusively announce they have now become husband and wife – and are five months pregnant with their first child together.

The pair tied the knot on Friday 4 September in a ceremony at Bonnie View Inn in Canada, and they’ve exclusively shared their wedding photo album with us. Due to Covid-19, only a small number of family and friends were able to be present, but they made sure to utilise modern technology and also threw a party on Zoom.

One very special guest who was able to be there in real life was 39-year-old Brianne’s daughter Gracie, three, who spent most of the day in the lake! Kevin's family were unable to attend, but the couple plan on having a second wedding in Ireland next year.

There was another guest who kept a relatively low profile, underneath its mother’s dress, and that was their baby. The pair are ecstatic to be expecting their first child, with Kevin, 43, telling OK!, “I actually couldn’t be happier.”

Just a few days after their wedding, Kevin and Brianne posed for a celebratory pregnancy shoot with us and chatted about why they couldn’t wait to be married and how they’re feeling about expanding their family…

You’ve had a lot going on these past few months…

Brianne: Yes – we got married and I’m five months pregnant! We keep saying to each other, “Imagine if we knew this last year.” I wouldn’t have believed it! We’ve been so busy and there’s been so much excitement. It’s been crazy, but all good stuff. We planned the whole wedding in two weeks. Today feels like the first day we can unwind a bit and reflect on it all.

Kevin: I actually couldn’t be happier to be married and to have a baby on the way.

You originally planned to have a big wedding in Ireland. What made you decide to go ahead in Canada with a smaller wedding?

Brianne: We were supposed to get married on the same date in Ireland, and we did really want a big wedding with all our friends and family. We still plan to do that next year, but who knows if we’ll even be able to go ahead because of the virus. It’s the unknown, so we thought, “Let’s just do it now.”

How do you feel now having just gone ahead and done it anyway?

Brianne: Unfortunately, we couldn’t have anybody from the UK as they’d have to quarantine on arrival for two weeks and two weeks when they got back. It wouldn’t have been fair, especially to my Dancing On Ice family who will start training for the show soon. When I look back now, I realise that it actually worked out perfectly. It was intimate and just about Kevin and I. There were moments we shared together that I’ll always remember. If it was a big crazy wedding day then I would have been super stressed.

Where did you get married?

Brianne: We have a family cottage that we visit every weekend and we got married near there at Bonnie View Inn. It’s a cabin on the water that I’ve been visiting ever since I was a little girl. It means a lot to me and it’s absolutely stunning. The place was almost fully booked for weddings and the only free day was 4 September so it was totally meant to be. After we got married Kevin changed and got into a boat and went water skiing. I had the bump so I couldn’t do much but I went on the boat ride. My sister had whisky waiting for Kevin when he got back. A little family tradition that he’s now involved in. It was perfect.

Who was able to come along?

Brianne: Just my immediate family and two of our friends that are from here. I did my first ever Zoom with a few close friends and Kevin’s family afterwards so that was fun. It’s been torture keeping it a secret from most people so we’re glad it’s all out there now. From Dancing On Ice, I told my maid of honour Alexandra Schauman, her husband Lukasz Róžycki and Alex Murphy [Dancing On Ice professional skaters]. We would have loved everybody there but there was absolutely no way we could have waited another year to get married. The moment we met, we knew that we wanted to be married so we’ve already had to wait long enough.

What was your favourite part of the day?

Kevin: Seeing Brianne walk towards me. She always takes my breath away but she did even more than usual. I was an emotional wreck. She is everything I’ve ever dreamed of and we were finally able to get married. I just about managed to hold myself together through the ceremony. I had to keep breathing as I thought I was just going to go at any second.

Brianne: Just seeing Kevin. We’re both Catholic so it was really important that we didn’t see each other the day before. We didn’t get married until 4.30pm so it was a long wait. Before that we hadn’t really gone a day without each other. By noon I just really needed to see him – I was dying for a kiss and a hug.

What did you do the night before?

Brianne: I stayed with my mum, sister and Gracie at our cottage and left Kevin behind at home with the boys. He went to the pub with a whole bunch of friends that he’s met out here and my dad. As Kevin is Irish there were a few drinks. Let’s just say the night made me extremely nervous. We said we wouldn’t speak but after a few drinks Kevin was calling me.

Kevin: It probably did get a bit out of hand. We ended up singing until the early hours. I didn’t even remember ringing Brianne until I saw my call log in the morning. Luckily Brianne’s dad was there and he was my security so we all got to bed eventually.

What role did Gracie play in the wedding?

Kevin: Gracie was the flower girl but she just messed around. Nobody can tell her what to do! She was in the water playing with the ducks.

Brianne: Kevin and Gracie are two peas in a pod. She completely idolises and adores him – how could you not, though? It was instant with them, and Gracie is not usually like that. She’s very wary of men – she’s definitely a girl’s girl – but with Kevin she instantly loved him. He’s a great male role model for her.

Brianne, how did you choose the dress?

I went to a local wedding shop called Bridal Blush and picked a dress by Casablanca. I could have gone into the city and got something fancy, but I wanted to support a local business. I was changing shape – basically doubling in size every couple of days, but they were amazing with me and helped me pick out something beautiful. I did try on something tight-fitted, which was my original idea, but it just was not going to work so I went for the princess gown. I didn’t think I was going to fit into it so when I did I was very emotional. I knew it was the one. It didn’t completely hide my bump but it made me feel half decent on my wedding day. Next year, hopefully, I can lose the baby weight and wear something more fitted.

Brianne, was it special knowing your baby was in your belly while you were getting married?

Brianne: It was amazing. Of course we had Gracie with us, but to also have our baby in my stomach took
it to a complete other level. The baby kicked as we said “I do”. I grabbed Kevin’s hand to feel it but he was so nervous I don’t think he realised what I was saying. I feel like it was our baby telling us, “Hurry up and get married.”

How did you find out that you were expecting a baby?

Brianne: We were in the middle of moving and it was a complete circus. I realised I’d felt a bit weird for a few days – I was bawling my eyes out over all sorts so I decided to do a test, and it came back positive. By this point I’m four beers in, and I’m like, “Well, I guess this is going to stop.” Kevin was downstairs with all the men so I decided to write him a letter and put it under his pillow. I thought he’d be about an hour but he was there until midnight! We usually tell each other absolutely everything so it was hard to keep this a secret for hours.

Kevin: When I did come up we ended up staying awake for three or four hours just talking about everything. Everything may seem fast in other people’s eyes and we can’t believe it ourselves but we do everything together so this was naturally the next step. It was initially surprising because it came at a crazy time when there was already a lot going on but we were planning it – we just didn’t realise it would happen so quick.

Brianne, was the pregnancy the reason you left Dancing On Ice?

I’d been thinking about leaving anyway. It’s been a big part of my life for 10 years, and I already miss it now, but juggling it with being a mum of one was hard enough. I wanted to take a bit of a break to focus on my family and Kevin moving over here. It was a blessing that I got pregnant because it helped make the decision easier.

Kevin: It’s always difficult when you’ve got to make a decision regarding your career. I remember from my own. It’s a big decision to stop doing something you love. I’ll support her in everything she does. I don’t think this is the end for her. She’s still super fit. It’s going to be really special for our children to watch her one day.

When is the baby due?

Brianne: The baby is due around our birthdays next year. Kevin’s birthday is 1 February and mine is 2 February. We’re going to have a lot going on! I think it’s going to make an appearance in January though.

Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?

Brianne: As long as it’s healthy, it doesn’t matter. Gracie, on the other hand, will not have a brother. In her head it’s going to be a girl and if it’s not a girl she will not be happy. We have the sex of the baby in an envelope that we haven’t opened yet. We’re not sure if we’re going to leave it as a surprise or not!

Brianne, how have you been feeling?

This pregnancy is completely different to mine with Gracie. With her it was so easy but this one is tough. I was struggling so much with nausea in the first three months and I am always tired. Plus I have a three-year-old to run after as well. Thank God for Kevin because he’s been amazing and I couldn’t have done it without him. The night before the wedding I didn’t feel good and I think that’s because Kevin wasn’t with me. I felt nervous and yucky but luckily, on the day, I felt great. He has been able to come to one hospital appointment with me but not all of them. I made sure to take videos when he’s not there. Obviously, he was a bit down about it but we have to be smart about this. We’ve got to take care of ourselves, Gracie and the little baby in my belly.

You’ve had a whirlwind romance. How did you know so quickly?

Brianne: I just knew straight away and usually I’m not that kind of girl. We met on 28 October and two days later I saw him at Goodison Park [Liverpool] for more filming. I was walking through the tunnel and he had his back towards me. When he turned around it was the weirdest moment, I just knew I was going to marry him.

What made you decide to live in Canada?

Kevin: It was always going to be here. Bri is very close to her parents and so is Gracie. It’s a family orientated community and very geared towards an outdoors lifestyle. I don’t think there is a better place to bring kids up. I’m thrilled to be here and it’s the right decision for us as a family. It’s just a six-hour flight back to Ireland so there are no issues there. We’ve made a beautiful home here and I thank Bri for that.
