Emma Corrin Reveals She Was Hospitalized While Filming "The Hardest" Scene in 'The Crown'

If you already binged The Crown on Netflix, then chances are your interests currently include festive sweaters, fluffy bangs, and Peter Pan collars. In other words, you’re obsessed with Emma Corrin, who plays a young Princess Diana in the show’s tea-filled fourth season.

And while truly nothing can be as intense as the actual show, apparently BTS was pretty dramatic due to Emma being hospitalized while filming in Spain.

“I’m asthmatic and I had been ill for a while with a bad cough,” she told Glamour Magazine (via E! News). “I had to film a scene in a freezing-cold swimming pool, with the kids playing William and Harry. It was honestly the hardest scene to film because I was genuinely keeping myself alive treading water, and also keeping five-year-old ‘Harry’ alive, as we found out he couldn’t swim!”

Emma continued, “We were meant to be flying back that night to the U.K., so we went past a hospital to get me antibiotics. The doctors gave me an oxygen test and said, ‘We cannot let you go because your oxygen levels are so low,’ so I was hospitalized.”

BTW, said hospital experience was pretty damn memorable thanks to hospital staff saying “We know you’re playing Princess Diana, would you like us to put a cardboard bag over your head so no one recognizes who you are?”

Annnd scene. Thank goodness she’s okay!
