"Delighted for everyone involved in the show that we’re up for another BAFTA," he started.

"On a personal note, to be named here and considered one of the team when all I do is talk into a microphone for a few hours has touched me more than anyone will ever know."

Iain ended his short statement by penning a heartwarming message to his late friend Caroline, who was found dead at her home in London at the age of 40 on 15 February.

Caroline was the presenter and face of the popular dating show for four years before stepping down and being replaced by her pal and Iain's partner, Laura.

Following her untimely death, Iain delivered an emotional and poignant tribute to his "true friend", dropping his familiar witty rhetoric to read out the emotionally charged pre-recorded message, which was played over the opening titles of the reality show.

Iain, who later paid a heartbreaking tribute to Caroline following her funeral, continued: "Caroline and me were together from the start of Love Island, and her passion, warmth, and infectious enthusiasm were a crucial part of what made the show connect with millions of viewers.
