Radio 1 DJ Jordan North has enjoyed Christmas celebrations in May with his grandparents on Wednesday as the UK moves one step closer to removing all lockdown restrictions.

The I’m A Celebrity favourite, 31, spent the afternoon with his family excitedly opening Christmas gifts, surrounded by Christmas decorations including one small Christmas tree.

The radio host, who suffered a secret 'meltdown' and threatened to leave the show, shared the festive activities with his 670,000 followers on Instagram as he reunited with his grandparents for the first time since the UK went into its third national lockdown.

Like many other residents in London, Jordan wasn’t able to travel up north to visit his family during the festive holiday because of restrictions.

Jordan’s family, who live in Burnley, made the most of his visit and decided to bring out the Christmas decorations, including a little Christmas tree with tinsel on it with his presents under the tree, and his loving grandmother even treated him to a home-cooked Christmas dinner.

The popular radio DJ showed off his festive afternoon on Instagram, and captioned his sweet snap: “Guys, my grandma has put up the Christmas tree for me so I can open my presents.”

He then posted a snap of two framed pictures of himself from the promotional shots from his appearance on I'm A Celebrity, which is set to open a UK theme park in Manchester, which were displayed on the wall with pride.

As the family enjoyed a bottle of fizz, his granny pulled out a full Christmas dinner complete with all the trimmings for her grandson.

She went on to show her support for her grandson with a scrapbook she made from his time on the show when the contestants were placed in a Welsh castle rather than the usual Australian jungle.

Clearly, his grandparents are his biggest fans as Jordan shared a short video of all the newspaper articles he featured in as he worked his way up to the final before being evicted.

The northern lad had shared his disappointment after the Prime Minister announced that lockdown restrictions had tightened during the festive period with Lorraine on his last appearance on the show back in December.

He said: “I was planning on going home today after my radio show but obviously I can’t after the announcement.

“My mum was absolutely gutted, there’s been a lot of tears on the phone this week, she’s heartbroken.

“And so are my brothers and my nephews, but look we’re all going through it.”
