Jay-Z Had a 'Romantical Thing' With Foxy Brown, Wendy Williams Claims
Wendy Williams just added to all of the rumors surrounding Jay-Z and Foxy Brown. Speculation has swirled for years that the “I’ll Be” collaborators once had an alleged romantic relationship, but it doesn’t appear that they ever addressed the rumors. Still, Williams insists the two allegedly did have a “thing” at one point.
Wendy Williams’ comments on Jay-Z and Foxy Brown
Williams made the allegation during the June 16 episode of The Wendy Williams Show while discussing Brown’s upcoming memoir. Written by Kim Osorio, Foxy Brown’s biography has been teased as the “most controversial book to come out in Hip Hop.”
Sharing the news with her audience, Williams said, “Foxy Brown has a memoir coming out in December. You might not care… [The book] is calling up on the most controversial moments of her history and life and hip-hop and so on and so forth. Kim [Osorio], please don’t be weak with this writing. Please, if you’re gonna tell it, tell it good.”
“You know? Foxy is very open about her life … but I remember when Foxy and Jay-Z had ‘I’ll Be’ — Foxy was the star of that. Jay-Z was standing in the corner, wringing his hands, talking about ‘OK, what do I do next?’ Like all that, and then you know this was allegedly a romantical thing. Alright, I’ll say alleged, but we know, we know. Yeah, she hit it before Beyoncé! Allegedly. Mhm.”
Showbiz Cheat Sheet reached out to representatives for both Jay-Z and Foxy Brown for comment on Williams’ claims but did not hear back by the time of publication.
By the early 2000s, Jay-Z had started dating Beyoncé
As Jay-Z explained on the 2018 track “713,” he and Beyoncé first connected at a music festival in Mexico in 2000. Two years later, they were officially an item. The pair would eventually marry in a top-secret wedding ceremony in April 2008 and have since welcomed three children: 9-year-old daughter Blue and 4-year-old twins Sir and Rumi.
Their marriage was put to the test in the early 2010s when Jay-Z became entangled in infidelity rumors, which Beyoncé later confirmed on her 2016 critically-acclaimed album Lemonade. But in the end, they were able to work past it.
When CNN’s Van Jones asked why they decided to stay together, Jay-Z responded, “Well, it’s my soulmate. This person I love. For us, we chose to fight for our love, for our family, to give our kids a different outcome. To break that cycle.”
His ‘focus’ remains on his family
Throughout it all, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been notoriously private about their relationship. But the “Hard Knock Life” rapper occasionally opens up, like when he spoke to The Sunday Times earlier in 2021 about his home life amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Although it forced big changes on everyone, Jay-Z said he appreciates the time it afforded him and his family to “sit down and really connect, and really focus on family and being together, and take this time to learn more about each other.”
The same month of the interview, he and his “Crazy In Love” collaborator celebrated 13 years of marriage with a trip to Las Vegas, with Beyoncé marking the occasion on her social media.
