Kristen Stewart films with actors playing Princes William and Harry

PICTURE EXCLUSIVE: Kristen Stewart is seen for the first time with the young actors playing Princes William and Harry as she transforms into the late Princess Diana to film new biopic Spencer

  • Kristen Stewart, 30, was seen helping the two young actors out of a car while filming in London on Monday
  • It was revealed in June last year that the Twilight actress would depict the late royal in a film which dramatises a ‘critical’ weekend in the early 90s
  • The announcement was met with a mixed response, including fury over failure to cast a British actress and claims Kristen, 30, does not look enough like Diana
  • Other actresses who have played the late royal include Emma Corrin in The Crown last year and Naomi Watts for the biopic Diana in 2013

Kristen Stewart was seen with the young actors playing Princes William and Harry for the first time as she shot more scenes for upcoming biopic Spencer on Monday.

The actress, 30, transformed into the late Princess Diana while working on a set at a drive-in KFC on the Old Kent Road in London and was seen stepping out of a Porsche alongside the two young stars.

Looking every inch the part, Kristen donned a navy blazer over light jeans as well as a baseball cap as she helped the two boys out of the sports car.

Kristen’s ensemble was reminiscent of Diana’s outfit worn to the Guards Polo Club in 1988, where the royal rocked a casual sweatshirt with the British Lung Foundation logo on the front as well as jeans and a blazer.

While filming in London, Diana swapped her boots from that former occasion for white trainers and seemed to be wearing a plain cream jumper rather than a printed top.

She wore her blonde locks down and perfectly styled under the cap before completing her costume with a pair of large black sunglasses.

The two younger actors also looked the spitting images of Prince William and Prince Harry, with the younger of the duo sporting Harry’s golden locks and a brightly coloured padded jacket as he climbed out of the car.

Casual: The two boys playing the Princes wore jeans and padded jackets, with the elder of the two sporting a navy blue jacket with white and red stripes

Smart: One of the younger actors, thought to be portraying Prince William, wore a burgundy jumper and shirt under his coat

In a new promotional shot for the film Kristen perfectly replicates the Princess of Wales’ stunning gaze while sporting a tartan blazer that became known as one of her most iconic looks.

Filming for Spencer has been underway for several weeks, with the film set to depict the late royal in a dramatised version of a ‘critical’ weekend in the early 1990s, when Diana decided that her marriage to Prince Charles wasn’t working.

The image shows Kristen softly smiling into the camera along with her signature head tilt, sporting a cream polo neck jumper and tartan blazer.

It was a look famously worn by Diana while she paid a visit to Portsmouth in 1989, meeting the town’s mayor and residents at Eastney Community Centre.

The image also offers a telling hint about the film’s setting, as Kristen’s Diana is still wearing her eye-catching blue engagement ring, along with oversized pearl earrings.

Spencer will follow the breakdown of her high-profile, 15-year marriage to Prince Charles and is primarily being filmed at the Schloss Marquardt in Potsdam – a castle which is doubling as Sandringham Estate.

The story is said to take place over three days during one of Diana’s final Christmases at the House of Windsor in their Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England in 1991.

The script, written by English screenwriter Steven Knight, who has also written Peaky Blinders, follows the moments Diana realised she ‘needed to veer from a path that put her in line to one day be queen’.
