Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock felt ‘invisible and overlooked’ in the band because of her race
Leigh-Anne Pinnock has revealed she once felt "invisible and overlooked" in her band Little Mix because of her race.
The 28 year old appeared on Richard and Judy: Keep Reading and Carry On to discuss the different books she's taken the most inspiration from over the years.
Speaking to the Channel 4 hosts, the brunette beauty brought out Rene Eddo-Lodge's, Why I'm No Longer Talking To White People About Race.
In the non-fiction book, Rene discusses her frustrations around the way race is perceived as well as the prevalence of racism and white privilege in today's Britain.

"The reason why this book inspired me is because I've had feelings in the past where I have felt invisible, overlooked, especially being the darkest member of the band that I'm in, Little Mix," she said.
"I think I was going through some things and I was struggling a little bit and not really understand why I felt the way I did.
"But then I read this book and it really really helped me."
The singer went on to introduce the third book that's helped her get by, which is called The Skin I'm In by Sharon G Flake.
"This is all about a young girl who gets bullied about having darker skin and it's basically about her learning to love the skin she's in," Leigh-Anne explained.
She added: "It's such an important message, especially for young girls, just young people in general I just think it's a really important message."
Leigh-Anne is currently isolating with boyfriend Andre Gray, 28, who she's been dating since 2016.
The Break Up Song hitmaker participated in a live games night with her bandmates Jade Thirlwall, 27, Jesy Nelson, 28, and Perrie Edwards, 26, when Jade revealed who makes the most noise out of her pals.

Speaking to host Roman Kemp, Leigh-Anne admitted she has received a noise complaint from her neighbours since lockdown began.
She said: "I had a noise complaint letter through, I'm fuming. My house is literally in the middle of nowhere so it's like…
"But then, to be fair, we tested it, we turned [the music] up really loud and then went to where they complained around the area and, to be fair, it was like banging and thudding, it was really loud and we were like, 'no, we've got to stop, we've got to stop'."
Jade then added: "Yeah we all hate being next door to Leigh-Anne on tour if we're in a hotel room because you know for a fact the music's going to be, like, blaring all night."
She then cheekily continued: "And then, if her boyfriend's there and all…" before pulling a suggestive face.
Leigh-Anne screamed in shock and added: "Oi! Shut up, no! Oh my God!" as Jesy and Perrie roared with laughter.
