Lori Loughlin Seen for First Time Since Prison Release, But Her Husband Mossimo Giannulli Is Still Behind Bars

Lori Loughlin has done her time, but her husband Mossimo Giannulli is still behind bars. On March 2, the Full House star was spotted for the first time since her prison release in December as she did volunteer work for a Los Angeles charity. Meanwhile, Giannulli has roughly another six weeks to serve on his sentence in the Operation Varsity Blue case.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli both pleaded guilty

Loughlin and Giannulli were among dozens of parents charged in March 2019 in the college admissions scandal case. Prosecutors accused the couple of paying $500,000 in bribes to ensure their two daughters, Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli, were admitted to the University of Southern California as crew recruits, either though neither was involved in the sport.

The When Calls the Heart actor and her fashion designed husband eventually pleaded guilty. Loughlin was sentenced to 2 months in prison and Giannulli was sentenced to 5 months. Each was also ordered to pay a fine and complete community service, as well as a period of supervised release.

Lori Loughlin volunteers post-prison release

On Oct. 30, 2020, Loughlin reported to the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif. to begin serving her sentence. She was released on Dec. 28.

In early March, Loughlin was seen publicly for the first time since getting out of prison. In photos obtained by Page Six, she can be seen handing out meals for Project Angel Food, a nonprofit that provides food to people affected by serious illness. A representative for the organization told Entertainment Tonight that Loughlin had already completed her court-ordered 100 community service hours but was continuing to volunteer with the organization.

“Lori Loughlin completed her community service in early February,” Brad Bessey, Head of Communications at Project Angel Food, told ET. “We are grateful that she’s a compassionate person who continues to volunteer with Project Angel Food.”

Lori Loughlin’s husband Mossimo Giannulli will be released in April

Giannulli reported to prison in November. He is currently serving his sentence at the United States Penitentiary, Lompoc. He is scheduled to be released on April 17.

Once he is out of prison, Giannulli will be required to complete 250 hours of community service. He’ll also be subject to two years of supervised release and have to pay a $250,000 fine.

“I deeply regret the harm that my actions have caused my daughters, my wife and others,” Giannulli said during his Aug. 21 sentencing hearing, NPR reported. “I take full responsibility for my conduct. I am ready to accept the consequences and move forward with the lessons I’ve learned from this experience.”
