Lorraine Kelly has said that presenting the UK’s results during the Eurovision Song Contest live final in 2003 was one of the most “nerve-wracking” things she has ever done. The 61-year-old presenter advised this year’s representative Amanda Holden to have a drink at the ready.

Lorraine said she had a glass of Prosecco in hand when she made her appearance via video link during the annual music competition almost 20 years ago.

She warned the Heart FM DJ not to think too much about the amount of people watching the show.

This year’s grand final will see 25 countries competing and will be televised around the world.

It was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, however the 2019 event was watched by over 170 million viewers.

The TV presenter made her comments during a chat with Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh on Good Morning Britain today.

“We’ve been chatting to Amanda Holden who’s got the honour of doing what you have done before…,” the former said.

Ranvir interjected: “What are the tips?”

“Oh have a drink, that’s what I would say,” Lorraine advised.

“I had a drink in my hand. It was the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever done in my life was giving out the results. It really was.

“And you can’t think about the amount of people that are watching or you wouldn’t even be able to speak,” she added.

When asked what she was drinking on the night, Lorraine said “Quite a lot”.

“I think it was quite a lot of Prosecco,” she confirmed.

Amanda, 50, said she was “thrilled” to be a part of Eurovision 2021.

“What an honour to announce the UK’s votes this year. I’m utterly thrilled.

“It’s an ambition ticked after 45 years of watching it! Now, what to wear…,” she said.
