On Thursday, Comic Relief and Children In Need are joining together for one night to create The Big Night In, which will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer.

As part of the fundraising effort, Louise will be host the Big Bike In alongside the main show, which will see her bike 100 miles on indoor cycling app Zwift, starting at 5pm with a planned break for the weekly Clap for Carers.

And Dan is among others who have volunteered to join her in her mission to raise money for BBC Children In Need and Comic Relief to support local charities and projects in the UK, so they can provide essential support to people who really need it through the coronavirus crisis.

Two days before the fun ride, she took to Twitter to voice her worry about how Dan was preparing for the big challenge.

“I am a bit worried about @mrdanwalker’s preparation for #TheBigBikeIn so I have bought him some essentials,” she said, accompanied by a photo of a tub of vaseline, some chocolate snacks and a packet of Maynards Wine Gums, hoping the sugary treats will give him the boost he needs to make it through the 100 mile stint.

One fan who will be joining Louise on her mission, revealed what she was preparing to scoff during the challenge.

“I’m fuelling with these – although sadly I don’t think there will be any left by tomorrow let alone Thursday for #TheBigBikeIn #cookiemonster,” she giggled.

Louise let slip that she too was having a relapse: “They look great! I am eating crisps. Not sure that is very sensible.”

It wasn’t long before Dan replied to her tweet thanking her for her “kind gesture”.

“What a kind gesture. Louise is concerned because my current ‘preparation’ for trying to ride 100 miles for #TheBigBikeIn consists of…”

He then reeled off a list of his plan for the evening.

“Cheese toasties for lunch, jump on bike at 5pm, ride 100 miles, walk like a Thunderbird for 3 days,” he noted, with a panicked emoji hinting he would be feeling sore in the morning.

One fan took to the comment section to tease the presenter: “Where can we watch the pain and suffering?? I mean where can we watch and donate?”

“Might need a bigger pot of Vaseline though if you’re not used to sitting in a saddle that long!” another suggested.

A third came up with an action plan to help them: “Right to be concerned. Plenty of energy will be needed. Just break it down in to 10 mile segments.”

Louise will most likely sail through the ride, making record time while she’s at it.
