Melissa Etheridge, best known for her rock hits I’m The Only One and Come To My Window, shared the tragic death of her son Beckett Cypher on Wednesday, who she shared with former partner Julie Cypher. He was 21-years-old.

The singer notified fans of the family’s loss in a social media post yesterday evening.

Taking to Twitter, she wrote: “Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction.

“My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends.”

She added: “My heart is broken.”

The post stated that there would be no Concerts From Home due to the circumstances, which Melissa had been performing live on Facebook as a pick-me-up during the coronavirus pandemic.
