BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty regularly fronts the show alongside her co-star Charlie Stayt. The 45-year-old cheekily mocked her colleague and BBC sports presenter Katherine Downes after she took part in a challenge alongside weather forecaster Matt Taylor.

Taking to Twitter, Katherine retweeted a picture of herself standing with Matt as the pair attempted to hula hoop at the Olympic stadium.

The snap was captioned: “You loved it,” followed by a laughing-face emoji.

However, a concerned look was slightly etched on Katherine’s face as she tweeted: “My face would suggest otherwise.”

Naga took the opportunity to take a cheeky swipe at her co-star as she claimed Katherine didn’t know how to hula hoop.

In view of her 220,000 Twitter followers, Naga tweeted: “Is it because you can’t hula hoop?” followed by a laughing face emoji.

Katherine hit back saying: “I think you’ll find I once beat Usain Bolt at hula hooping. Now THAT was my finest [email protected] (sic).”

Matt cheekily quipped: “And I was the first person to win the 100m on the newly laid track at the stadium.”

To which the sports presenter added: “Basically, we’re world-beaters.”

Meanwhile, Naga and Charlie were nowhere to be seen on Saturday’s airing of BBC Breakfast and were instead replaced by 5Live’s Rachel Burden and BBC North West Tonight’s Roger Johnson.

Viewers were quick to comment on the change following the shake-up.

One person commented: “@TVNaga01 hope you have a good weekend. I’m really trying to realise it’s not Sunday as you and Charlie are off. Seeing @RogerJ_01 and @rachelburden is lovely but makes it seem like Sunday! Xx.”(sic)

Another person agreed: “Backups for the reserves for the Sunday stand-ins presenting this morning #bbcbreakfast.”

Elsewhere, Naga confessed she had been “tempted” to adopt a new addition into her family during the coronavirus lockdown period.

Speaking with her colleague Charlie Stayt, the presenter admitted she would love a new pet but is quite busy.

Charlie asked if she had any pets of her own to which she replied: “No I don’t at the moment, with my job I travel an awful lot and it just wouldn’t be fair.

“In lockdown I’ve been really tempted to [get another pet].”

Naga continued: “You think you have more time because you’re at home or your family does, and then you just think when life gets back to normal, if and when…”.

The TV host implied she wouldn’t have the time to care for an animal with her demanding TV duties.

Naga is married to her husband James Haggar who she tied the knot with in 2007.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
