Netflix Reportedly Developing Woodstock ’99 Docuseries

Netflix reportedly plans to develop a new documentary series about the infamous Woodstock ’99 music festival.

The four-day ’99 Woodstock festival, held on July 22-25, 1999, was in celebration of the 30-year anniversary of the original 1969 Woodstock festival. However, the festival was marred by environmental conditions, violence, sexual assault, allegations of rape, looting, and fires.

According to Deadline, the project will be produced by Raw, which produced the Netflix documentaries Don’t F**k with Cats and Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia, and BBH Entertainment, the development arm of the global creative agency BBH, which co-produced the 2019 Depeche Mode concert/documentary film Spirits in the Forest.

The report states that the show is set to “delve deep into the culture that created Woodstock ’99” and feature previously unseen footage and interviews.

The Woodstock ’99 festival featured performances from Rage Against the Machine, The Offspring, Korn, Metallica and Willie Nelson among the more than 90 bands.
