Pauline Quirke quit Birds of a Feather after an "extraordinary row outside a toilet" with co-stars Linda Robson and Lesley Joseph.

The 61 year old is no longer speaking to Lesley, 75, and Loose Women panellist Linda, 62, and wasn't included in the Christmas special of the long-running sitcom.

After it was reported earlier this week that Pauline had left the show after 31 years, more has now been revealed about the cast's fallings out.

A source close the Linda claims that the atmosphere between the veteran actresses has become "increasingly hostile" as the years have gone on since the show launched in 1989.

The insider said: "The nadir came during one astonishing row at Teddington Studios, culminating in Pauline and Lesley squaring off, noses centimetres apart, outside the women's loos.

"They were basically pulled apart by stunned crew members. Things went rapidly downhill from there.

"It's a sad ending to what was one of the most endearing and popular friendships in television.

"Linda doesn’t believe they'll ever speak again," the source continued to tell The Sun.

The trio's friendship reportedly hit breaking point in 2019 when Pauline refused to return to film a 30th anniversary special episode of the show, which moved to ITV in 2014.

An insider had previously told Mail on Sunday about the fallout: "Both Linda and Lesley were saddened that Pauline didn't want to return to make a 30th anniversary episode.

"Linda and Pauline used to be very close, less so Pauline and Lesley.

"I think Pauline resented the attention that Lesley got and it was very tense and difficult to navigate at times.

"Pauline wasn't approached about the Christmas special. The atmosphere on the set had previously become difficult, there were real and tense issues."

The first episode of the hit show saw sisters Tracey and Sharon, played by Linda and Pauline respectively, come together after their husbands are sent to prison for armed robbery.

Sharon moved from her Edmonton council flat into Tracey's upmarket home in Chigwell, Essex, with the pair befriending Tracey's next door neighbour Dorien, played by Lesley.
