Piers Morgan has recalled how he met his wife of ten years Celia Walden in his latest newspaper column. The 56-year-old former Good Morning Britain presenter remembered their first encounter while paying tribute to the man who introduced them.
Piers was asked to interview Celia, who was a gossip columnist from the Daily Telegraph at the time, when he was working for GQ magazine back in 2005.
He revealed that it was the publication’s editor-in-chief Dylan Jones who convinced him to do the interview after he had initially dismissed the notion.
Dylan informed Piers that the journalist, now 45, had posed for a photo shoot for the men’s fashion magazine to coincide with the feature.
After seeing pictures, the father-of-four “immediately cleared his schedule” he has since said.
Piers recounted the story after it was revealed that Dylan is quitting the magazine after 22 years.
He said the editor was not only “fantastically talented” but threw the best parties in town.
“More importantly, he’s the guy who emailed me back in 2005 when I was GQ’s celebrity interrogator to ask if I would interview a gossip columnist from the Daily Telegraph,” he wrote for his mailonline column.
“Why would I want to do that?” Piers said he replied to the editor dismissively.
“‘You may want to see the eight-page Agent Provocateur photo-shoot she’s done for us before declining,’ he [Dylan] persisted.
“He sent over the pictures, and after viewing them, I immediately cleared my schedule for a series of increasingly long ‘interviews’ with the gossip columnist.
“Her name was Celia Walden – and I married her five years later.”

The couple tied the knot in 2010 and share nine-year-old daughter Elsie.
Piers is also dad to Spencer, 27, Stanley, 23 and Albert, 20, and from his first marriage to Marion Shalloe.
Marking his wife’s birthday on social media a few years ago, the former newspaper editor posted a picture from that very photo shoot.
She could be seen striking a pose in a white bodice and denim shorts.
Celia smouldered in the stylish snap, but the presenter couldn’t help but make a little dig.
“Happy Birthday to my wife Celia,” he wrote in view of his 7.9 million followers.
“We first met when @BritishGQ asked me to interview her for this photo shoot.
“I know, I know… she’s punching,” he amusingly added.
