Piers Morgan rips into ‘disingenuous’ Boris Johnson lockdown speech
Piers Morgan was unimpressed with Boris Johnson’s latest speech announcing new lockdown rules, branding the prime minister ‘disingenuous’.
For the first time since recovering from coronavirus, Boris delivered an address on Sunday evening (10 May) announcing he was slightly easing the lockdown measures in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
In the speech, Boris told the country that those who cannot work from home are ‘actively encouraged’ to go back to work.
However, Piers felt the PM failed to clearly outline where the public stands going forward.
‘So disingenuous,’ Piers tweeted.

‘The Prime Minister changed UK strategy after he was told the herd immunity policy he’d been pursuing for weeks would lead to 500k deaths. How many died unnecessarily before he U-turned to the way everyone else was already doing it?
‘So nothing’s really changed then. Total waste of time.’
Love Island voiceover Iain Stirling agreed and admitted: ‘He said loads of things I don’t understand.’
Blue Story actor and director Rapman chimed in: ‘Boris can say what he wants until I see the death toll below 100 for a consistent period of time I’ll be staying in my house.’
Piers will return to host Good Morning Britain on Monday (11 May) after a week off to recover from an illness. He had tested negative for Covid-19.
So far, more than 31,000 people have died from coronavirus in the UK, which has more than 200,000 confirmed cases of the disease.
