Prince William Shares His “Profound Respect” for Air Ambulance Workers in a Personal Letter
Prince William has marked Air Ambulance Week 2020 by paying tribute to everyone working for the service throughout the United Kingdom.
In an emotional letter, part of which was shared on Instagram, William said, “Having seen first-hand the incredible work of air ambulance teams both on the front line and behind the scenes, I hold a profound respect for all that you do.”
He continued, “Whether you are part of the critical care team bringing vital medical support to patients when every second counts; an engineer who ensures that crews can be safely deployed at a moment’s notice; or a volunteer working to keep the service running, the country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude.”
The royal family’s official Instagram account shared an excerpt from William’s letter, alongside several photos of members of the family meeting with air ambulance crew members. The caption explained, “The Duke of Cambridge has written an open letter to the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities, thanking all who work, volunteer and support them in their tireless efforts in helping to save lives every day. #BecauseEverySecondCounts Swipe ⬅️ to see photographs of The Queen and The Duke of Cambridge visiting the East Anglian air ambulance in 2016 and The Duke visiting the London air ambulance at The Royal London Hospital in 2019.”
