Roman Kemp has made his weekly appearance on TV for his and his father Martin Kemp’s show Sunday Best, after taking a break from his radio show earlier this week.

The 27 year old radio star, who hosts Capital Breakfast alongside Siân Welby and Sonny Jay, reportedly took a break from his morning show following the tragic death of a friend.

Roman was said to be in “complete shock” after he and his colleagues were given the news that a former employee had died as they were pulled away from their show earlier this week.

It was later explained that their sudden absence was because the trio had been informed that someone they used to work with had died.

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here star Roman, who recently split from his girlfriend Anne-Sophie, was then reported to be taking time out to “grieve”.

And Roman was replaced by Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield after Will Manning took over an hour earlier than his usual slot on Wednesday and hosted the whole of Thursday's show.

A source told The Sun: “Roman and his colleagues are in complete shock, they can’t believe someone they were all close to is gone.

“They’ve all been left completely shattered by the upsetting news and are taking some time to grieve and digest the tragedy.

“It’s a tough time for them all right now.”

Following the reports, Roman appeared alongside his father Martin, 58, to host their joint show, which was pre-recorded earlier in the week but aired on Sunday 8 August.

After the show’s credits rolled to kick off the programme, Roman said: “Every Sunday I'm sat here with my dad. Just keeping you company with some brilliant guests as well in the morning.“

Martin then introduced their first guest, Ranvir Singh, as he said: “Joining us today is someone used to getting up very early.

“Not just the sort of early you know,” he added, hinting at Roman's early starts for Capital breakfast.

It comes after Roman was reported to be dating model Lottie Moss after splitting from his girlfriend in lockdown.

A mutual friend of Roman, 27, and Lottie’s told The Sun: “They have known each other through the party circuit for a few years, but nothing has ever happened before.

“Roman’s always thought she was beautiful, and decided to pluck up the courage to ask her out.”

The source claimed they kissed and continued to tell the Sun on Sunday that Roman and Lottie had their first date at London’s Soho House on Monday.

“They had a really fun, very tipsy date and have been in touch every day since,” the source said.
