Scarlett Moffatt leads tributes as Gogglebox star June Bernicoff dies

Former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt has led tributes following the news June Bernicoff has died.

The former co-stars were both part of the hit Channel 4 show when it launched, and the TV star took to Instagram to share her sorrow with fans.

Posting a picture of Leon and June, Scarlett wrote: ‘You will be missed be all. Reunited with your true love.

‘Sending love to your family and all that knew you and loved you.’

While former Gogglebox star Sandi Bogle also shared her reaction as she tweeting: ‘So sad the beautiful June Bernicoff has sadly passed away.

‘She starred with her husband Leon in Gogglebox Sending my Condolences to her family and friends May she REST IN PEACE.’

Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon tweeted: ‘So sad to hear the news about June. My thoughts are with her family.’

While TV presenter Rylan Clark-Neal tweeted: ‘Very sad news about June. Sending love to her family x’

The sad news was confirmed in a statement by Gogglebox’s Executive Producer, Tania Alexander, which she shared on social media.

‘The family would like to ask for privacy at this sad time, but would like to thank the hospice staff that supported them and cared for June so wonderfully and with such compassion in her final weeks.’

The message concluded with: ’June’s death was not related to Covid-19.’

Leon tragically died in December, 2017, aged 83, with June leaving the show following the news.
