Baker Lily Vanilli is launching a Regency-inspired afternoon tea
If Bridgerton has given you a taste for the Regency era, a new dining experience could be right up your street.
Baker Lily Vanilli is set to launch her first afternoon tea at the newly-renovated Theatre Drury Lane.
The new opening will be a playful and modern take on the Regency period, with decorative sweet treats, tea, champagne and more.
Guests will be invited to feast on pink lemonade tarts with chocolate cherubs, sticky toffee pudding with an oozing custard and salted caramel centre, and dark chocolate sponge with buttercream piped in Lily’s signature style.
While savoury snacks include madeleines topped with salmon, cannelés with whipped ricotta and beetroot as well as a Cornish sausage roll.
It wouldn’t be an afternoon tea without scones – so these will also be available with salted whipped butter and homemade jam.
For added extravagance – and as a nod to the era’s trend for exotic ices – a trolley will also be offering scoops of Lily’s absinthe and mint choc chip ice cream.
What’s more, a selection of teas will be served up to accompany the edible goodies – as well as champagne.
While feasting on their treats, guests can soak up the pink and green marble-lined backdrop, with glittery chandeliers overhead.
Afternoon Tea at the Lane is set to open in October and will cost £49 per person (or £57 if you opt for booze).
Lily says: ‘I’ve always wanted to put my own spin on a classic afternoon tea and felt that there was room to really shake things up and do something different, so working on this has been so much fun.
‘I love the fact that the tea is made up of classics that everyone wants to eat: jelly, ice cream, cake, custard and sausage rolls – I can’t wait to see the theatre come to life.’
