Boots has announced that the extended shopping hours comes as the retailer prepares for potentially the busiest high street shopping week of the year, due to the easing of lockdown restrictions in England.
More than 300 Boots will have extended opening hours, with more staff on hand to help customers shop safely throughout the festive period.
The high-street chain expects to welcome thousands of Christmas shoppers over the coming days as lockdown measures ease across the country and the UK is put back into tiers.
Despite Black Friday breaking records with almost four million customers visiting boots.com, the store welcomes shoppers with its Christmas ranges including gift sets.
Boots also expects there to be a rise in families stocking up on their quizzes and games due to people spending a lot more time at home this year.
In the next 22 days until Christmas, the retailer is set to stay open for 3,000 additional shopping hours to help customers pick up everything they need.
The extended hours will also help ease the flow of shoppers, making the stores less busy.
Tracey Clements, Chief Operating Officer at Boots, commented: “With lockdown easing in some areas of the UK today, for many, this is the real start of Christmas. Our shops have been open throughout the pandemic, so our colleagues are experts in helping you to shop safely and with confidence.
“To ensure a safe shopping experience we are extending the opening hours in 301 of our stores in England and will increase staffing in key cities. In the next 22 days until Christmas Day, we will have over 3,000 more hours for our customers who want to shop for those perfect gifts.”

Customers can use their online store locator tool to check what stores have extended their opening hours.
A statement on their website reads: “We’ve temporarily suspended our Click & Collect service, but you can still complete your Boots shop online, just opt for home delivery.”
However for those wanting to visit a Boots store, the retailer urges customers to stay safe when visiting in-store and has provided tips for a safe shopping experience.
The high-street chain asks customers to stay two metres apart from other customers and store staff and stick to the floor markings in selected stores outside for queuing and at the checkout.
With Boots expecting an influx in customers this week, the retailer explained that there may be a queue outside to enter the store, to help social distancing inside.
Boots isn’t the only retailer to extend their opening hours in the lead up to Christmas.
Aldi, Primark and Tesco have also decided to help customers shop easier this year by updating their shopping hours.
More than 300 Tesco stores will be open 24 hours a day from December 14 to Christmas Eve with many other stores extending hours to be open from 5am.
There are currently a handful of stores across the country on trial for keeping them open 24 hours ahead of the Christmas period.
Between December 21 and December 23, supermarket giant Sainsbury’s will be keeping most of its stores open until midnight to help shoppers pick up groceries when it is quieter.
On Christmas Eve, stores will be open between 6am and 7pm and on Christmas Day they will be closed.
Primark reopened its doors yesterday in England after being closed for a month and some stores will be open for 24 hours.
A statement on their website reads: “Primark stores located in retail parks and major shopping centres will trade until 10pm at a minimum, with some stores trading as late as midnight.
“Plus, 11 of our stores will open for 24 hours from 7am on Wednesday 2nd December so you can shop right through the night until our regular closing time on Thursday 3rd December!
“We’ll be open with extended hours right up until Christmas Day so you’ll have plenty of time to tick off your list.”
