We’re seeing double.
To celebrate Cindy Crawford’s 55th birthday over the weekend, Kaia Gerber shared a stunning throwback photo of her supermodel mom — but at a glance, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was just another selfie.
“Happy birthday beautiful mama,” Gerber, 19, captioned the snap. “To the person who always makes me do a double take, the woman who gets more beautiful every year, and the mother I can only hope to be like one day… @cindycrawford I love you.”
In the pic, Crawford wears a simple white tank top tucked into blue jeans, with her hair in voluminous curls. And Gerber’s famous friends couldn’t resist the opportunity to point out the striking resemblance between mother and daughter.
“Kaia I love your hair like this,” joked fellow fashion-famous offspring (and “Bachelor” contestant) Kit Keenan, while Luka Sabbat wrote, “Literally you.”
“Like mother, like daughter!” a fan exclaimed, while another added, “ur the spitting image.”
In a 2019 essay for Vogue, Gerber wrote about being constantly compared to Crawford by those in the biz. “From day one, people in the industry were often taken aback by my resemblance to my mom … It used to be that I didn’t see it at all, but now I will look at a picture and have to take a moment before realizing which one of us it is,” she said.
“But the biggest compliment is when someone says I act like my mom. Beyond her beauty and obvious appeal, she has always been my hero and my role model because of the way she treats people and the lens that she sees the world through, and that’s something for which I’m beyond grateful.”
Concluded Gerber, “If you’re still having trouble telling us apart, though, a quick tip: My mom’s the one with the mole.”
