Reality TV star Bertie Garratt, known for his role on The Cabins, has shared some exciting career news.

The reality star, who is the nephew of the late great Des O’Connor, is taking a huge career U-turn and focussing on the fashion industry.

A source has said: "Bertie Garratt is embarking on a new, exciting career as a model. Bertie has recently been approached by some major brands to front their national campaigns."

They continued: "His management team are currently negotiating a high five-figure deal for him to lead a campaign for an established men’s cosmetic brand. This will be rolled out in over 2,000 stores nationwide!"

The insider explained that he is "excited to be embarking on his new career" and furthering himself doing "something he loves".

"He has always had a passion for fashion, so modelling will be like second nature to him."

The source also added that the star has "gained so much self confidence from modelling" and sees himself "appearing in Men's Health and GQ in the future".

Bertie is known for his reality television roles and his new career moves will seem a world away to loyal fans, but they need not worry as he hasn’t given up on the television industry completely.

The source explained: "In the future, Bertie hopes to return to reality TV but for now, his focus is growing his brand and personal profile."

Bertie previously spoke to Daily Star about his reality TV career and explained that he was eyeing up a new role.

He admitted: "We are about to finish the application this week that they've asked me to do […] but I am looking at going on a different TV programme, which in my eyes is just as good."

Garratt also explained why he was avoiding Love Island: "For me, I feel like Love Island, a lot of people had negative experiences from being on there, so I think I might avoid it as it's people that I'm quite close to. But I'm definitely excited for this one that's coming."

Garratt has received some helpful advice from some famous pals, one being football star Wayne Lineker who recently introduced the World Cup on BBC.

Bertie explained: "I seem to be meeting some great people and taking a leaf out of everyone's book. Wayne pointed me in the right direction of what to do or not to do, but yeah I suppose it's all up to yourself. You make the decisions, but I think if you go on a TV show and you slip up on there, you will be remembered for it."
