Elizabeth Hurley, 54, stuns in sexy Versace dress from 21 years ago
Elizabeth Hurley hasn’t aged a day.
The “Bedazzled” beauty, 54, slipped into a sexy pink Versace chainmail dress she last wore in 1999 for Harper’s Bazaar’s #TurnUpNotIn project, which tasks celebrities with posing in their fiercest quarantine fashions.
“I’ve got a zillion great memories and I can remember what I was wearing in all of them,” Hurley told the magazine. “The dress I unearthed for this shot is Atelier Versace — I wore it 21 years ago to the CFDA Fashion Awards. I was with my then-boyfriend Hugh Grant and had a blast. I put it away in acid-free tissue paper straightaway, and it’s still perfect!”
The glamorous second-skin gown features a dangerously high slit and a draped neckline, and the star posed in it while lounging on a fur blanket and watching TV, with the vintage piece hiked up to show off her legs.
“QWEEEENNNN!!!!!” one fan exclaimed in the comments, while others heralded Hurley as a “babe” and “literally perfect.”
The “Royals” actress has a long relationship with Versace; in 1994, she became an overnight style icon after accompanying Grant, 59, to the premiere of “Four Weddings and a Funeral” in the fashion house’s black safety-pin gown.
Incidentally, Hurley modeled an updated version of that very look for Bazaar last year, and recalled how the original came together.
“I urgently needed to find a dress to wear for Hugh [Grant]’s premiere, and in those days I had no idea about fashion,” she told the glossy.
“I remember going to an office where they literally fished a dress out of a white plastic bag. I took it home and did my own hair and makeup, fighting Hugh for the mirror, which wasn’t even full-length, in our tiny one-bedroom flat. It was all very unglamorous compared to how things get done these days.”
Added Hurley, “Just because it still fits doesn’t mean I would wear it today — it wouldn’t be appropriate!”
Debatable, judging by how she pulled off the pink gown with flying colors.
