I met a lovely woman online after my wife died but I've found out she's married

DEAR DEIDRE: I TURNED to online dating three years after my wife died because I was so lonely. I met a lovely woman almost immediately.

I’m 61 and she’s 55. We had a lot in common and arranged to meet. She said she was single. I fell in love with her and she said she loved me.

After six months of seeing one another I discovered she was married.

I was upset but she convinced me they were over, living separate lives in the same house.

Then one night after I dropped her back home, I got a text from her, clearly meant for someone else, arranging to meet the next morning.

It turned out she had another lover.

She told me they were over and asked for my forgiveness and, like the old fool I am, I believe her, but my trust is waning.

DEIDRE SAYS:  I’m not surprised. She lied and you were trusting.

She may genuinely care for you but be realistic. She is married and although she’s said, unhappily, it might be news to her husband and to her other lover too.
