Liam Payne sent his fans into a frenzy as he unveiled his brand new hair transformation after his long locks were compared to 'Jesus'.

The 27-year-old Strip That Down hitmaker had his barnet cut after lockdown restrictions relaxed in the UK, but many fans said they missed his long hair.

Liam took to social media to shared a snap of his new short style as he captioned the post with a haircut emoji.

The Familiar singer's fans went into meltdown and 'Jesus Liam' began trending on Twitter as they said goodbye to Liam's long hair.

One said: "IT LOOKS AMAZING".

While another wrote: "Bye bye Jesus Liam Payne".

A third added: "You'll be missed Jesus Liam. Thank you for your time".

Liam's long lockdown locks floored fans when they first saw it on TikTok and as he arrived for rehearsals for this weekend's BAFTAs performance.

He wore his hair in their natural shaggy style and the musician was quickly compared to 'Jesus'

Liam has acknowledged his 'Jesus' look as he posted a picture of himself next to the religious figure on Instagram.

He told his fans to "tune in for my personal gospel of 1D and LP", in the hilarious post.

Fans couldn't stop talking about his long hair as one tweeted: "Jesus Liam stans rise!"

The singer made history with a one-of-a-kind experience which saw his real-time AR avatar unveiled for a show-stopping performance.

Liam then hit the EE BAFTA stage to perform in real life.

The AR experience was recorded live at 6.45pm BST for fans across the UK, who enjoyed an exclusive first-look of Liam's avatar ahead of the BAFTAs.
