Man Utd eye transfer swoop for Uruguayan starlet Facundo Pellistri, coached by ex-star Diego Forlan

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly plotting a transfer swoop for Penarol’s Uruguayan starlet Facundo Pellistri – coached by ex-Red Devils striker Diego Forlan.

The 18-year-old is becoming a hot prospect in South American after starring in his homeland on the wing.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a former team-mate of Forlan.

And The Athletic claim the Norwegian will ask his old pal for advice on the teenager ahead of launching a potential swoop once the window re-opens.

Penarol know they will struggle to hold on to Pellistri, especially as the lightning quick attacker has a £10million release clause inserted into his contract.

But United will face strong competition for his signature as both neighbours Man City and Real Madrid are keen.

Despite not yet making his international debut, Pellistri holds a Spanish passport and already speaks English, which should ensure a smooth transition to Europe.

He is under contract until 2022 with Penarol but if Solskjaer receives a glowing report from Forlan then he may soon find himself on the move even though he is happy at the club.

Solskjaer has attempted to play down reports of big-money moves in the next window but has outlined what he looks for in new additions.
