Paige VanZant tried and failed to ‘drown’ her husband in quarantine

It seems the naked escapades in Paige VanZant’s household have been replaced — for now.

Over the holiday weekend, Austin Vanderford pondered whether or not wife VanZant could hold him underwater and drown him, later putting the UFC star to the test.

“Question of the night: ‘Is it possible for my wife to hold me underwater and drown me?’ I truly wanted her to give it 100%,” Vanderford posted to his Instagram story.

As the video continued, Vanderford, an MMA fighter, turned the camera on VanZant, who broke down the evening’s quizzical events.

“So we did do an experiment. So he went underwater and I tried to hold his head underwater,” VanZant said while seated on the edge of a bathtub.

Vanderford — who has been married to VanZant since 2018 — captioned a separate story, “Disclaimer! Not making light of anything… But I genuinely was curious if my wife had the physical capabilities of drowning me.”

VanZant said she “did genuinely think I could hold [him] underwater.”

Spoiler alert: VanZant cannot hold Vanderford underwater.

“End of the story … Not even close,” Vanderford posted. “Was up in a second… AND I blew her away with my strength.”

VanZant then joked about Vanderford’s ulterior motives with the experiment.

“Truthfully, he was just trying to get me to say, ‘Yes, baby, I’m so blown away with how strong you are,’” she said.

Vanderford later told fans in a separate Instagram story he conducted the test for two reasons, to “give [himself] a little ego boost,” and curiosity.

“I do go underwater a lot to wash my hair, get the soap off, and it’s always in the back of my mind. I think, ‘Man, what if Paige was really pissed off at me today, tried to hold me underwater and all that.’ And so I did really want to know if it was possible,” he said. “But we found out.”

Last week, the couple — infamous for stripping down during the coronavirus crisis — stepped out in their birthday suits once again, following an appearance on TikTok.
