Paperchase slashes stock prices by up to 80 percent for final days

The high street retailer, which specialises in stationery supplies, cards, wraps and gifts, will close hundreds of its stores across the UK in a matter of days. To mark the end of trade, Paperchase has slashed the price of stock items by up to 80 percent, but with the website now officially closed, Britons will have to find their local branch to take advantage of the discounted supplies.

On their website, the Paperchase team wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that the online store has now ceased trading. All stores will be closed soon.”

While some sites in major cities across the UK have already closed, the stationery retailer is expected to shut the remaining sites for good on Monday, April 3 2023.

Until then, customers can take advantage of enormous savings in-store, with some items reduced by as much as 70 and 80 percent.

Those looking to bag a bargain can do so by finding their nearest Paperchase site through the store finder tool.

Normal weekend opening hours for the retailer are as follows:

  • Saturday: 9.30am- 5.30pm
  • Sunday: 10.30am – 4.30pm

In some stores, Paperchase operates a “mindful hour” for the first hour of trading on a Sunday.

While trading times may vary between stores, some customers may be disappointed to find that their nearest shop has already closed its doors.

According to their website, some sites across the likes of London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds are among those that have already been shut.

All Paperchase stores located in Next sites have also closed their doors.

The closures have come after supermarket giant, Tesco bought the rights to the brand, but not Paperchase’s physical shops.

Some savvy shoppers who have already taken advantage of the sale price stock shared their bargains online.

On Twitter, one person wrote: “80 percent off closing down sale in Paperchase! Just got a lined notebook for £1.60 down from £8. It’s only worth about £1.60 but that is beside the point. Another shared: “Guys the paperchase I went to was closing down and I got 10 cards for £5 and I am BEAMING.”

But some have been saddened by the news of yet another high street retailer closing down. One Twitter user said: “I’ve worked in Fenchurch street for 7 years and the number of closures is MAD, House of Fraser, Leon, EAT, Paperchase, Holland & Barrett, Superdrug, now M&S. High rents or just because the pandemic ruined everything & most of us WFH??”
