Taylor Swift announced ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ on ‘Good Morning America’
On Good Morning America, Swift gave an exclusive announcement about the status of re-recording her albums. It turns out, Swift has finished re-recording her second studio album Fearless, which she originally released in 2008.
“Tonight at midnight I’ll be putting out my version of my song ‘Love Story,’ which was originally on my album Fearless. I’ve now finished re-recording all of Fearless, which will be coming out soon,” Swift said on the morning talk show.
Swift also provided more details about what fans can expect from the re-recorded album.
“My version of Fearless will have 26 songs on it because I’ve decided to add songs from the vault, which are songs that almost made the original Fearless album. But I’ve now gone back and recorded those so that everyone will be able to hear not only the songs that made the album but the songs that almost made it,” Swift disclosed.
Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless’ announcement has a cryptic clue
After announcing Fearless (Taylor’s Version) on Good Morning America, Swift posted a letter about the album on social media.
“fearless was an album full of magic and curiosity, the bliss and devastation of youth. it was the diaRy of the adventures and explorations of a teenage girl who was learning tiny lessons with every new crack in the façade of the fairytale ending she’d been shown in the movies,” Swift wrote in the letter.
Throughout the note to fans, random letters are capitalized. Together, the capitalized letters create the hidden message of “APRLNNTH,” which leads one to believe Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will be released on April 9.
Why Taylor Swift is re-recording her songs
In June 2019, Scooter Braun purchased Big Machine Label Group from Scott Borchetta, acquiring the masters to Swift’s first six albums. While Swift made it known she wanted to purchase her masters from Borchetta and later Braun, she was not given the option.
As a result, Swift decided to re-record her first six albums so she could legally own the masters to her music.
“artists should own their own work for so many reasons, but the most screaming obvious one is that the artist is the only one who really *knows* that body of work,” Swift wrote in her Fearless (Taylor’s Version) announcement.
Swift previously gave fans an idea of what her re-recorded songs will sound like in December 2020 when “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” was included in a commercial written by Ryan Reynolds.
