The New Balance 2002R Emerges With "Camo Green/Volt" Theme
The New Balance 2002R — after being welcomed back to the market in 2020 thanks to FN Designer of the Year Salehe Bembury — is pushing the tempo this year by rapidly increasing its output. In recent memory, the silhouette previewed its impending collaboration with BAPE, and now it’s reverting our attention back to its in-line family by revealing a new “Camo Green” makeup.
Revealed by Japanese retailer BILLY’s Tokyo, the fresh installment is shown off with a militaristic theme that meshes muted tones with sprinkles of neon touches. The top half is mostly formed with breathable mesh and suede materials, the former arriving in a stark black hue while the latter is swamped with “Camo Green” across the mid-foot and toe overlays as well as the “N” logos. More army-esque vibes are present across the rear overlays which contrast with a muddy brown hue. Moreover, tiny pops of “Volt” are dropped off on the throat, toe boxes and heels.
Save for the sliver of silver that is placed towards on the molds towards heel, the rest of midsole unit is coated in all-white, Cushioning springs towards the back ends and outsoles finish everything off with black outers.
BILLY’s Tokyo is set to release these New Balance 2002Rs online on March 7 and in-store on March 12 for ¥16,900 (approx. $156 USD).
