This Is Who Will Make The Final Decision On DMX’s Future

DMX’s family and friends have been through an extremely difficult time since the rapper was rushed to the hospital on April 2, 2021 following a heart attack. (Though the heart attack was rumored to have been caused an overdose, DMX’s lawyer told CNN he didn’t know the cause.) A rep for the popular rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons and is also known as X, confirmed DMX’s hospitalization in a statement via TMZ, stating he was in a “critical condition” in the ICU after “collapsing at home.”

“Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must conquer,” the statement read. It added that his family “appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers.” The rep also touched on DMX’s tough life, noting his “life and music have been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”

Fans have continued to pray for the rapper as he remains on life support, though TMZ sadly reported that he is in a “vegetative state” and doctors are said to have warned his family it may not be good news, though he reportedly has shown “some brain activity.” It’s now been revealed who will have to make the heart-rending decision about DMX’s future if his condition doesn’t improve.

DMX's family have come together amid the tragedy

As DMX remains in the hospital, TMZ reported on April 8, 2021 that it’s his mom, Arnett Simmons, who would have to make the difficult decision over whether or not to turn off her son’s life support machine. The site claimed the decision on what to do may have to be made by April 9, 2021, though the family is said to still be “holding out hope for a miracle” for the “X Gon’ Give It To Ya” hitmaker after his close friend Steve Rifkind told the outlet his condition remains the same. A source previously told TMZ that DMX had some “not good” results after he was tested on April 7, 2021, which reportedly showed “no improvement in brain activity.” Rifkind explained his family would “determine what’s best” for him following these crucial results.

DMX’s nearest and dearest have all gathered around him during his hospital stint, even holding a large vigil outside the hospital. His mom, fiancée, Desiree Lindstrom, former wife, Tashera Simmons, and former girlfriend, Yadira Borrego, are said to have been staying nearby with his children and have been supporting one another through the tragedy. TMZ added that the incident “has strengthened [the blended family’s] bond.” We’re with DMX’s family in praying for a miracle.
