Who is Matt Cardle?
Matt Cardle is a 37-year-old singer and performer. He was originally a plasterer, and rose to fame on The X Factor.
The star was born in Southampton but grew up in Halstead, Essex.
After winning the hit show his album Letters went to number two in the charts, and he enjoyed a successful nationwide tour.
What did Matt Cardle do after the X Factor?
After the tour he split from Syco and went on to release two more albums under two different labels, however in 2013 he checked into rehab for addictions to drink and drugs, specifically valium.
Speaking in an interview with The Sun On Sunday, the star said at the time: "The doctor said to me if I'd been left to my own devices for another three or four weeks I might not be here now.
"To be told it is life or death, I was like, 'Hold on a minute, how have I come to this? How has it got this bad?'"
On the topic of the peak of his addiction, Matt revealed: "I didn't have my wits about me to even count how many I'd taken. It was a lethal situation.
