Which UK McDonald’s are opening for dine-in today? How to locate restaurants

MCDONALD’S is reopening around 700 restaurants for dine-in today – here’s everything you need to know.

Maccies announced it was finally reopening its seating areas in an update to customers yesterday.

It follows an initial trial of four branches that reopened for eat-in on July 15.

McDonald's will be offering table-service only, with diners able to order directly to their table via the My McDonald’s app, at the till or kiosk.

The fast food chain will also ask customers that choose to eat-in to leave their contact details via a website.

Diners will by able to use their smart phone to visit the webpage directly, or they can scan a QR code to take them to the website.

McDonald's coronavirus safety measures

MCDONALD'S has announced the following measures to make their business Covid-secure.

  • Customers will have to leave contact details to help NHS track and trace
  • Table-service only – customers can order via the My McDonald’s app, at the till or kiosk
  • Reduced menu in place
  • Hand sanitiser stations for customers and delivery drivers
  • Floor-markings and one-way entrances
  • Touchpoints including self-order screens, card readers and doors cleaned at least every 30 minutes
  • Perspex screens in kitchens, service areas and drive-thru window
  • PPE including disposable gloves and face coverings for staff
  • Fewer workers on each shift
  • Customers are asked to use contactless payment methods if possible

They'll then be asked to leave the name of the lead member and the number of people within their group, a phone number, the date and time of visit and the restaurant number.

Businesses are being asked by the government to collect and store customers' details for 21 days to help the NHS Track and Trace service, although they aren't required to do this by law.

Here's what you need to know about McDonald's dine-in.

McDonald's restaurants that already offer dine-in (not including the Republic of Ireland):

  • Derby
  • Coventry Cross Cheaping
  • Scunthorpe – Doncaster Road

This is on top of the 31 restaurants that have already reopened for dine-in, including three in the UK and 28 in the Republic of Ireland.

This means a total of 718 McDonald's restaurants now offer dine-in.

Customers can also check its online restaurant finder tool to see if their local has reopened.

To find your nearest Maccies, simply enter your postcode.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson gave the go-ahead for businesses including restaurants and pubs to reopen for dine-in customers from July 4.

But McDonald's decided not to reopen for eat-in on this date, saying it  "wasn't ready" to welcome back diners to its seating areas.

The Sun has taken a look inside a post-lockdown McDonald's to see all the social distancing measures that are in place.

Which McDonald's restaurants are already open for takeaway, drive-thru and delivery?

McDonald's has opened more than 1,300 of its restaurants for takeaway, drive-thru and delivery.

Branches won't necessarily offer each of these ordering methods, so make sure you check before making the journey.

Again, you can use the online restaurant finder tool to see what your restaurant is doing.

Is McDonald's taking part in Eat Out to Help Out?

McDonald's has confirmed it'll be taking part in Rishi Sunak's Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

Under the scheme, chains can offer 50 per cent off meals up to £10 per person for customers dining-in on Mondays to Wednesdays throughout August.

The idea is to help stimulate the economy and to keep restaurant workers in jobs.

Sadly, McDonald's hasn't yet revealed if all its restaurants will be taking part.

We'll update this article when the restaurant chain confirms which locations will run the scheme.

You can also read more about which other chains will offer Eat Out to Help Out here.

Will McDonald's be offering any discounts?

Yes, McDonald's has confirmed the price of fan favourites has been slashed, including Big Macs and Happy Meals, following the government's VAT cut.

The discounts include a 40p reduction on Extra Value Meals menu and 30p off every Happy Meal.

McDonald's has also knocked 50p off breakfast meals and up to 30p off the price of a single McMuffins.

Does McDonald's have a spending limit in place?

Previously, McDonald's was asking customers to spend no more than £25 to help cope with demand.

However, the restaurant chain told The Sun yesterday that this limit is no longer in place.

It means customers can spend as much as they like on their fast food fix.

McDonald's temporarily shut all 1,350 restaurants on March 23.

The fast food chain recently cancelled its Monopoly giveaway, with the fast food chain confirming that it won't return this year.

Plus, here are seven changes McDonald's fans should know for when they next order.
