THE UK has hundreds of stately homes open to the public – when the country isn't in lockdown.

Many have now even opened their grounds to allow people to stay. Here are the best locations you can stay, ranging from campsites to lodge cabins.

Waddow Hall, Lancashire

Located on the grounds of the 17th century Waddow Hall, there are 178 acres surrounding the estate.

While you can simply camp here, there is lots to do such as high rope courses and rock climbing at the activity centre.

It also just a few miles from Clitheroe if you fancy a pub or restaurant for the evening.

Kids will enjoy roaming the local wilderness and go back to basics.

Culdees Castle Estate, Perthshire

For a much more luxurious stay, you can stay at a cabin on the Culdees Castle Estate in Scotland.

Located in a secluded forest, there are amazing views of the Highlands, especially of the lit-up castle in the evening.

For colder evenings, there is a hot tub and plenty of outdoor seating and blankets where you can watch out for wild deer.

  • Lodge Cabins from £120 – find here

Marston Park, Somerset

Marston Park in Somerset is also open for camping with luxury bell tents for guests.

You won't be bored as the estate has events including craft classes and yoga, while pop up bars and food trucks can be found on-site.

It isn't far from Bath for Bridgerton fans as many scenes from the show were filmed there.

Paxton House Caravan Park, Berwickshire

Paxton House Caravan Park, located in a walled garden on country grounds, lets guests stay on the estate of the 1763 home.
