1950s home left untouched for decades is on sale for $270,000

From the outside, this house in Philadelphia, US, looks pretty ordinary.

But inside is any vintage-lover’s dream.

The 1950s home has been left untouched for 63 years, meaning its delightfully retro interiors have been perfectly preserved.

There’s an avocado bathroom suite, retro furnishings, and original fifties appliances.

And now, the house is on the market – for $270,000 (£196,500). A bargain, we reckon.

Enter through the front foor and you’re immediately taken back in time, with plush green carpets, floral printed fabrics, and a vintage television set in the lounge.

This leads through to the dining area, where there sits a wooden table and chairs, plus a tall cabinet for all your car boot sale crockery.

The kitchen is as colourful as you’d hope – all canary yellow tiles, orange wallpaper, and pink cupboards – and has an old-fashioned stove and oven.

There’s even an old landline phone on the wall – in a fetching shade of peach.

Slightly less delightful are the doll figurines watching over the area, but perhaps the eventual buyer will find these cute, rather than creepy.

There’s another lounge area downstairs in the basement, complete with wood-panelled walls, red fluffy carpets, and a record player.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with retro wallpaper and clashing prints.

For us, it’s the bathroom that’s the star of the show.

Yep, it’s a classic avocado suite with a green bathtub, matching toilet and sink, and patterned tile flooring. Dreamy.

‘The property is still owned by the original owner from 1959 – everything has been wonderfully maintained,’ said Daniel Hoban, the estate agent presenting the property.

Anyone in the US with cash to spare, we strongly recommend buying this place.

Just promise us you won’t gut the interiors and go all modern.
