Boris Johnson's sister Rachel and Ed Balls join Best Home Cook spin-off

Boris Johnson’s sister Rachel and ex-politician Ed Balls have signed up to the Best Home Cook celebrity spin-off. Yes, really.

They will join a bumper line-up, which boasts of Ferne McCann, former Welsh rugby captain Gareth Thomas, comedian Ed Byrne, former Coronation Street star Shobna Gulati and Strictly Come Dancing contestant Karim Zeroual.

Years And Years actress Ruth Madeley is also participating, with Celebs Go Dating’s Tom Read Wilson and comedian Desiree Burch on the list too.

The BBC show will begin filming at the end of the month and will feature regular presenter Claudia Winkleman and judges Mary Berry, Angela Hartnett and Chris Bavin.

This isn’t the first time Rachel and Ed have made appearances on competition shows.

Back in 2018, Rachel went into the Celebrity Big Brother house while Ed showcased his dancing skills on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.

Ed was partnered with Katya Jones on Strictly and sadly didn’t manage to take home the glitterball after being eliminated in week 10.

Rachel was the second housemate to be evicted from the infamous bunker, with Courtney Act going on to win.

‘I’m so happy the Home Cook team are going to be back together, albeit two metres apart,’ Claudia enthused ahead of the new series of Best Home Cook.

‘I can’t wait to see what our lovely cooks will whip up for Mary, Angela and Chris.’

Meanwhile, BBC director of content Charlotte Moore added: ‘There is going to be plenty of heat in the Best Home Cook kitchen when we return with a new series full of a wonderful mix of celebrities serving up their favourite dishes.’
