Carol Kirkwood thanks police after car knocks her off her bike

Carol Kirkwood was rushed to hospital after a car knocked her off her bike.

The BBC Breakfast weather presenter thanked the police and viewers for their support after the accident.

She tweeted on Tuesday after leaving hospital: ‘Been off following an accident. Got knocked off my bike by a car and got injured.

‘Biggest thanks ever to the Police (Chris and Faye), the Ambulance Crew (Miranda and Stewart) who tended to me and took me to Hospital. And especially Peter Foskett-Tharby at Wexham Park Hospital.’

The 57-year-old later added: ‘I am overwhelmed and humbled by all your lovely tweets. Will read them properly when I get home later. THANK YOU! It is so good to be back. Hope you are all keeping well.’

Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins posted: ‘So sorry to hear that Carol, poor you! Get well soon. Sending love xxx’.

Gavin and Stacey star Larry Lamb tweeted her: ‘We need you brighten up our days !! Xx (sic)’, while BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker sent her three heart-eyes emojis.

Carol has appeared regularly on BBC’s weather output on TV and radio since joining BBC News in 1998.

Popular with viewers for her friendly and cheery personality, she also took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2015, finishing in 10th place.
