Christina Aguilera 'hated being super skinny' in early fame as star still refuses to look at old photos of herself
CHRISTINA Aguilera confessed to feeling "insecure" during her early years of fame and into her 20's, as she admits she would "never" want to relive that time.
The Burlesque star has fully embraced aging after celebrating her 40th birthday this past December.
Christina spoke to Health Magazine for their beauty issue about her pressures to appear perfect during the initial growth of her career in the '90s.
The singer admitted to having a "hard time" looking at pictures of herself from that period, as she remembered her deep "insecurities."
“I think we all have our good days and our bad days in how we feel about ourselves. Entering this business, I hated being super skinny,” she told the publication for her May 2021 cover story.
“Once I turned 21, I started filling out a little bit, and I was loving my new curves. I appreciated having a booty," the celebrity recalled as she reminisced about her 2002 album Stripped and the changes that came with it.
She confessed: “I have a hard time looking at the early pictures of myself because I remember feeling so insecure.
"I would never want to relive my 20s — you’re so in your own head and finding your confidence."
Christina, who is now mom to Max, 13, and Summer, six, has released the insecurities and has learned to love her body.
She said: “As you age, you stop comparing yourself to other people and start appreciating your own body and owning it.
“With age, you figure out that life is too short to waste time thinking about what other people think about you.
“I’ve realized I am making memories for myself and that I shouldn’t worry about what other people think.”
Christina has flaunted her curves on several occasions the last few months as she welcomed her 40th year with open arms.
The Grammy-Award winner recently showed off her body in a one-piece black bikini while in Miami this past February.
The Voice alum enjoyed her getaway alongside her two kids and her current partner Matthew Rutler.
Christina's relaxing vacation took place over Valentine's Day weekend, and she also received balloons and flowers from her beau.
"Happy Valentine’s Day my love…here’s to all the adventures we‘ve shared and many more to come," she wrote on Instagram.
The couple met in 2010 while on set filming Burlesque, and announced their engagement in 2014, though have not expressed plans to marry in the seven years since.
In celebration of her birthday in December, Christina shared a racy photoshoot where she lay submerged in a bathtub filled with bubbles.
The Genie In A Bottle singer wore nothing but a brown cowboy hat and held a gold champagne bottle in the risqué video.
Though the mom of two normally seeks to keep her children out of the spotlight, she also recently shared a picture with her son Max, whom she shares with her ex-husband Jordan Bratman.
The two smiled and cuddled by a warm fire as they quarantined during the winter months.
The mother-son duo enjoyed some low-key Christmas festivities while sporting comfy attire.
