Coronation Street fans will know Daisy (played by Charlotte Jordan) hasn’t been able to fully enjoy the build-up to her wedding thanks to evil stalker Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still). However, her mum Christina (Amy Robbins) has also been making things difficult for her and the ITV soap saw a dramatic exit as Daisy told her to get lost.

Daisy is preparing to marry Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), but she’s feeling uneasy about the big day thanks to the harrowing stalking experience, which is set to take a tragic turn.

Unbeknownst to Daisy, Christina invited two women from Daisy’s past who used to bully her at school to her hen do.

The pair aimed nasty slurs at the bride-to-be, trying to spoil her celebration.

Christina failed to defend her daughter and laughed along with the cruel girls, so eventually, Daisy snapped.

She told her mother not to come to the wedding while she kicked her and the two women out.

Christina soon hit back with a spiteful warning as she remarked: “Before I go there is something you should know.

“It’s a little bit of a secret, I mean I wasn’t going to tell you but why should I give a damn about your happiness?

“No woman in our family has ever had a happy wedding day, and you are no different.

“There’s a family curse. It’s true, the day was cursed from the beginning. The further away from it I am, the better.”

Daisy brushed off the comments, but viewers know her wedding day is going to take a tragic turn.

Daisy’s stalker is set to turn up before the service and will throw acid at her.

Coronation Street has worked with the Katie Piper foundation on the distressing storyline.

Producer Iain MacLeod said: “We were keen to show the long-term reality for people who are subjected to this kind of attack.

“It is something we might often read about in the papers but perhaps don’t fully understand, in terms of the depth and variety of effects it can have.

“As well as the medical impacts, we explore the social fallout of having your appearance profoundly changed, both in terms of your own ability to process that and how the wider world reacts to you,” he revealed.

“The story will at times be heartbreaking, but we felt it was an important one to tell.”

Actress Charlotte said of the harrowing plot: “When I was first told about this storyline, I really didn’t see this coming. It’s not something you see a lot on television so I was really surprised.”

“There is a fear lurking in the back of Daisy’s mind since Justin was released on bail,” she admitted. “She has always been thinking, ‘will Justin retaliate in some way?’

“Seeing him again after he has been warned multiple times by officials to stay away from her, she is certainly scared of how he is going to react.”

Coronation Street continues on Monday at 8pm on ITV.
